Embassy of France- Office for Science and Technology - PhD students seminar in France March 2015

The mission of the Office for Science and Technology (OST) of the Embassy of France in the United States is happy to announce the opening of the call of candidates for the program FADEx on Monday, October 13, 2014.

The program FADEx consists in a 2-days seminar between PhD students enrolled in a US university and PhD students enrolled in a French university. The seminar whose focus is on “advanced architecture for solar cells” will take place at Le Bourget-du-Lac, France, in partnership with the National Institute for Solar Energy (Institut National de l’Énergie Solaire or INES) in March 2015. This meeting will provide the opportunity for US and French PhD students to share scientific results in a very informal setting. Besides, four (4) lectures of well-known French researchers in the field will be also proposed to the PhD students. Additionally, the seminar will be followed by the visit of state-of-the-art French research centers – the INES, the MINATEC innovation campus, the Photovoltaic Institute of Paris Region (Institut Photovoltaïque d'Île-de-France or IPVF) – as well as a visit of the European Synchrotron Research Facility (ESRF).

Furthermore, thanks to the generous support of the OST, eight (8) scholarships to attend this meeting will be awarded to 8 top US PhD students. The scholarships covers the round trip to France, the trips within France, the accommodation and most of the meals.

Graduate Research Conference-Columbus State University

This is a gentle reminder that the deadline for students to submit paper proposals to the Dr. Gregory P. Domin Graduate Research Conference hosted here at Columbus State University is September 12th. 

Please forward this information to your graduate faculty and students.

This is a great opportunity for your students to submit their research efforts at a conference designed exclusively for Graduate Students, and is an excellent opportunity for us to show off the stars of your programs.  Research efforts can be in progress.  Theoretical and practical work submitted for consideration may include, but is not limited to, research papers, poster presentations, thesis and dissertation work, case study evaluations, panel presentations of a research topic, and business plans/models. 

This year we will be presenting Best Paper, Best Oral Presentation (Panels), and Best Poster Presentation awards at the end of the conference.  The student who wins in each category will win a monetary award of $250 and an award letter.

GT Women's Leadership Conference

Good Afternoon!

The Women's Leadership Conference is looking for a few more workshops for its upcoming conference! Below is the email that went out to several potential speakers! Please consider submitting a workshop!

Mission: The mission of the WLC is to inspire and prepare the women of Georgia Tech to become equal partners in the leadership of our professions, communities, and society.

History: The Women's Leadership Conference began during the winter of 1998 as means to celebrate, recognize, and learn more about the strong leadership exhibited by women of the Georgia Tech community. The conference is a gathering of women who have sought to become leaders in the classroom and the boardroom as well as the communities where they reside. As an infant coming into the world of annual campus activities, the conference was phenomenally successful. Now in its 14th year, the conference is again striving to expand its reach. This year we hope to use the conference theme Horizons to broaden the personal, professional, and global horizons of all conference attendees. The two-day conference offers workshops, speakers and discussions aimed at training female leaders on area campuses and in the Atlanta community. The 2012 conference will be particularly exciting, as this year celebrates the 60th Anniversary of the Matriculation of Women at Georgia Tech.

Date: This year's conference will take place Friday night November 2, 2012, and Saturday November 3, 2012. The location is the Student Center Ballroom on the Georgia Tech campus.

Theme: "Horizons". This year the committee came up with this theme to encourage the idea of women "broadening their horizons" and learning more about the world around them, whether it be on a personal level, a community level, or global level. We hope that the workshop and keynote speakers who will be speaking at this conference will bring some empowering lessons for conference attendees to carry with them into the world, whether they be related to business, health, Atlanta, well-being, volunteer efforts, issues related to human trafficking, or whatever your area of expertise.

SpaceUp Atlanta-Saturday,October 6th!!

We are inviting you to SpaceUp Atlanta during World Space Week on Saturday Oct. 6th!

SpaceUp Atlanta is a space unconference, where participants decide the topics, schedule, and structure of the event. Unconferences have been held about technology, science, transit, and even cupcakes, but this is the first one focused on space exploration, science, STEM and anything about space.

Everyone who attends SpaceUp is encouraged to give a talk, moderate a panel, or start a discussion. You will be amazed at what comes out of SpaceUp. We hope to gather students, teachers, space professionals, and enthusiasts in the greater Atlanta region to foster a grassroots space community.
