Innovation Infrastructure Workshop

The Institute for Materials invites you to attend an Innovation Infrastructure Workshop organized by Ken Gall, Professor for the School of Materials Science and Engineering. Ken will share his experiences in forming two start-up companies based on materials technologies and his expertise in utilizing campus resources for entrepreneurs. This is an interactive event! It will be a great opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge of transitioning research into the market so students are encouraged to attend, at no cost.

The workshop will be held Tuesday,
December 2 at 9 a.m. at the Georgia Tech Global Learning Center, Room 235. We will adjourn at 12:30 p.m. for lunch in the GLC Atrium. Breakfast, coffee, and refreshments will be served during the workshop.

Seminar: "Intro to Coca-Cola Company's Plantbottle Project" from 11:00am to 12:00pm on Nov 18th in MRDC 4404.

Georgia Tech Student Chapter of the Society of Plastics Engineers has invited Dr. Robert M. Kriegel from The Coca-Cola Company to give an industrial seminar titled as "Intro to Coca-Cola Company's Plantbottle Project" from 11:00am to 12:00pm on Nov 18th in MRDC 4404.

Title: 
Intro to Coca-Cola Company's Plantbottle Project

Abstract:
The Coca-Cola Company’s Plantbottle project is an ambitious effort to move an entire industry from fossil based feedstocks to renewable feedstocks. The discussion will provide a background on the program and we will be discussing some of the technical background and information that influenced the choice to go into this direction, the choices we have made with respect to new materials in development, the challenges and the opportunities, especially as it relates to polymer and materials science. Intern/co-op opportunities in Global Packaging Group of The Coca-Cola Company will also be discussed.


Biography: 
Rob Kriegel has been a researcher at The Coca-Cola Company for 10 years in the Global Packaging group focusing on materials and polymer science innovation for the company.  In those 10 years, he has co-authors 13 publications with university partners, been granted 9 patents, and provided innovation solutions that combined have saved the Company and Coca-Cola System over $200 million dollars.  Prior to joining The Coca-Cola Company, Rob worked at Halliburton Energy Services developing production enhancement fluids for the oil industry.  Rob has two of his three degrees from Georgia Tech and tries to maintain strong ties to the University.

Tutors Needed

High school math, science, and math SAT tutors needed for boutique tutoring business. Please be able to tutor AP-level high school chemistry, biology, and physics if you are science-oriented; and AP-level high school algebra I and II, geometry, pre-calculus, and calculus if you are math-oriented. Great if you can tutor in both areas! Preference given to those who have coursework/experience teaching writing to students with learning disabilities.
Pay: $25-30 per hour
Travel requirements: Tutors travel to clients’ homes in the metro Atlanta area and thus must possess reliable transportation.
