Seminar: "Intro to Coca-Cola Company's Plantbottle Project" from 11:00am to 12:00pm on Nov 18th in MRDC 4404.

Georgia Tech Student Chapter of the Society of Plastics Engineers has invited Dr. Robert M. Kriegel from The Coca-Cola Company to give an industrial seminar titled as "Intro to Coca-Cola Company's Plantbottle Project" from 11:00am to 12:00pm on Nov 18th in MRDC 4404.

Title: 
Intro to Coca-Cola Company's Plantbottle Project

Abstract:
The Coca-Cola Company’s Plantbottle project is an ambitious effort to move an entire industry from fossil based feedstocks to renewable feedstocks. The discussion will provide a background on the program and we will be discussing some of the technical background and information that influenced the choice to go into this direction, the choices we have made with respect to new materials in development, the challenges and the opportunities, especially as it relates to polymer and materials science. Intern/co-op opportunities in Global Packaging Group of The Coca-Cola Company will also be discussed.


Biography: 
Rob Kriegel has been a researcher at The Coca-Cola Company for 10 years in the Global Packaging group focusing on materials and polymer science innovation for the company.  In those 10 years, he has co-authors 13 publications with university partners, been granted 9 patents, and provided innovation solutions that combined have saved the Company and Coca-Cola System over $200 million dollars.  Prior to joining The Coca-Cola Company, Rob worked at Halliburton Energy Services developing production enhancement fluids for the oil industry.  Rob has two of his three degrees from Georgia Tech and tries to maintain strong ties to the University.
