Leadership Fellows Program--Application Deadline March 25th

The Leadership Education and Development Program Team is pleased to announce the official launch of the Leadership Fellows Program on March 1, 2013

What is the Leadership Fellows Program? The purpose of the Leadership Fellows Program is to enable Master's and Ph.D. students at Tech to serve as leadership coaches for Georgia Tech undergraduate students. Leadership Fellows will be professionally trained in leadership and coaching, earn a $3,000 stipend, and be expected to give three hours per week of time to the coaching process.

Fellows will sharpen and enhance their existing leadership and coaching skills by assisting in the development of undergraduates who are also eager to improve their leadership abilities. Fellows will also have the opportunity to learn from their peers at regular training sessions. In this environment Fellows will be able to actively reflect on their own previous leadership experiences and identify areas of improvement within themselves while coaching others. The reason for becoming a Leadership Fellow is quite simple: Develop yourself and develop others.

Do you have a Master's or Ph.D student that would be interested in becoming a member of the inaugural class of the Georgia Tech Leadership Fellowship Program for the 2013-204 academic school year? If so, we will be conducting two information sessions on March 7th and March 12th. Since we are offering a FREE lunch, we are asking all attendees to register for the event. Please send your students to leadership.gatech.edu for more information, application details (Note: Application deadline is March 25th) and registration links for these sessions.

Chemistry Teaching Opportunities!

Chemistry Teaching Jobs

Southern Teachers Agency has quite a few chemistry and physical science job listings from schools for the 2013-14 academic year.  These jobs range from physical science at the middle-school level through high school AP Chemistry.  It is common for science teachers to teach more than one kind of science, so some of these positions will require a chemistry teacher to lead sections of biology, physics, or another science. Please consider forwarding this information to students you know who are interested in teaching.

STA is the oldest teacher-placement service in America.  We receive job listings from hundreds of PK-12 private schools around the South.  Schools come to STA because they recognize the value of STA’s help in recruiting & screening talented candidates.

Certification is not required by private schools for many science teaching jobs.

Requirements:

For most of these chemistry teaching jobs, a bachelor’s degree with a major in chemistry (or at the very least a chemistry minor) is essential, but teacher certification is not.  Of course, a degree in science education is highly desirable, as is a master’s degree in chemistry.  Candidates should have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.  Some of these positions require prior teaching experience.

Application process:

Interested candidates should apply to Southern Teachers Agency by submitting a completed STA application
(available online), along with a resume and cover letter to teachers@southernteachers.com.

Job Fairs:

Southern Teachers Agency will hold three job fairs for active, registered STA candidates in 2013:
1)      Best of the South! Atlanta, GA, February 9
     Candidate application deadline: January 25
2)      STA at NAIS: Philadelphia, PA, February 27 – March 1
      Candidate application deadline: February 15
3)      A Capitol Campaign: Washington, DC, March 23
      Candidate application deadline: March 11
